To be eligible for support, an organization must be a legally registered, non-profit NGO with a proven track record of transparency and impact in the Asia-Pacific region. The Foundation does not provide grants to individuals, political parties, religious groups for sectarian purposes, or for purely commercial ventures. Projects must align with the bank’s core pillars: Education, Enterprise, or Community Development. A critical component of eligibility is the potential for employee engagement; the Foundation prioritizes "hands-on" partnerships where Deutsche Bank staff can contribute their professional skills, such as financial literacy training or business mentoring, to the project.

To secure and maintain funding, partner organizations must adhere to the following conditions: Employee Engagement Requirement: A primary condition for most grants is the opportunity for active volunteering. The Foundation prioritizes projects where Deutsche Bank employees can contribute their professional expertise (e.g., financial literacy coaching, business mentoring, or legal advice). Projects that are purely "hands-off" financial donations are less likely to be approved. NGO Status and Governance: Grants are strictly limited to registered non-profit organizations (NGOs) or social enterprises. The organization must demonstrate high standards of governance, including a transparent board structure and a proven track record of managing similar-sized projects. Strategic Pillar Alignment: The project must explicitly fit into one of the bank’s global CSR pillars: Born to Be: Focused on youth education and removing barriers to opportunity. Made for Good: Focused on social enterprise and micro-financing. Sustainability/Community: Focused on environmental impact or basic community needs (e.g., disaster relief). Exclusionary Criteria: Funding is strictly prohibited for: Individual applications (scholarships, personal debt, or medical expenses). Religious organizations for purely sectarian or proselytizing purposes. Political parties or lobbying activities. Retrospective funding (costs incurred before the grant agreement was signed).
