沙田社區基金是由一群熱心地區人士籌組並得到沙田民政事務處協助下正式於2010年成立，是稅務局認可慈善機構。成立基金會的主要目的是為了扶貧救急，資助沙田區活動中未能在現行機制獲得資助而具慈善性質的項目，以及提倡關愛共融文化，發揮互助互愛精神。
